Picked up a new Truck....

Last night

92, Custom, 2wd, XL, single cab, short bed, I6 with auto tranny. No so much as a door ding anywhere. Paint is in ROUGH shape, all chrome is good, seat has a HUGE hole in it other wise all interior looks new.

Bad part is the fan spun loose from the crank and overheated the motor and popped a rod(supposedly). We will see....

BUT the price was right $400 and I towed it away.

Hummm what could we do with this.....

Chop the frame, bolt on a short bed, do a motor swap, and make it into a PSD "Lightning" clone. There are enough RC/SWB SuperDuty trucks running around that seeing one isn't the gee-whiz thing it used to be but I've yet to see an OBS version of that idea...

Looks like it already is a short bed, but it may just be the angle.

I wasn't sure (again from the angle) if it had a short- or long-bed as it sits. Heck, a built 4BT in a RC/SWB F-150 would be plenty of "go" and make a helluva fun shop truck while not requiring the suspension upgrades necessary to stick a 1,200 lb. PSD between F-150 frame rails over a F-150 front end. If the suspension got lowered a couple inches (not frame-dragging low, though...), that could only improve handling for a 2WD street-only rig.

Otay, in that case I'm definitely voting for the suspension drop/built 4BT option--that would make for a fun and fairly easy-to-work-on runaround town truck.
