Alright guys here we go.. I have an 03 F-250, 6.0 with 101k on it. On the way to wok today at about 45MPH th truck went left for a brief second then snapped back staright... It is here with me at work now.. Any thing to check for? All help and info is appreciated
Thank you,
Mike

Alright guys, I got underneath the truck and started pulling on some parts.. It seems that # 6, and # 7 in this diagram (inner and outer tie rod) have excessive play.. I can get underneath there and move them up and down and back and forth

if you have excessive play you need to replace those.

They should have NO movement in them, beside being able to rotate. You said tie rod, but in your diagram that is the drag link (diagonal "bar" from pitman arm to passenger side tire).

Either way if there is play they need to be replaced. Pref with moog components as they are greasable.

I just replaced parts 4-9 on my 03 Ex. Bought from ford, cost about $350, and they are greaseable.

here is a trick my budies and i "learned" on the trail, before paint parts 6 and 7. Then transfer the marks over to the new part and you can get your adjuster setup. Surprisingly the alignment will be pretty much intact enough to get you home. Just remember to check your steeringwheel as this will determine if its off center or not.

Alright guys that did not fix it... How do you tell if the steering box is bad? And how big of a PITA is it to swap out?
Thank you,
Mike
