Woohoo--got my rims back today

A couple weeks ago I bought a set of 16x8 Weld Sidewinder rims from a guy on PSN and once FedEx came by I took 'em to the powdercoater to get shot with "flat" (not all that flat, but not very shiny either) black since the wheels were the last big bits of chrome on my truck. He finally sprayed them yesterday, since I told him to wait until he was shooting another batch of that particular color, and so I was finally able to pick them up this morning. Unfortunately I won't be able to get my tires broken down off the OE rims and re-mounted on the new ones until Monday (unless I decide not to sleep after I get done work at 0700 tomorrow) but for now, they're looking mucho spiffy-o.

Michelin LTX AT/2's in 285/75R16E. I could fit a larger tire on those rims and that would look quite gnarly, especially if I went with a MT pattern, but if I go any bigger the tires get a bit more spendy than I'd like and I'd lose the ability to fit a full size spare under the bed and away from my exhaust.

I agree about the spendy part -- but don't worry about the size under the bed. I'm fitting my 315/75/16 under there with an aftermarket 4" exhaust -- no problems. It's tight, but doesn't rub at all.

To heck with sleep--I got off work at 0700 after having drank most of a pot of coffee from 0600-0700, came home, then did some exercise and went for a little ~3 1/2 mile run. As soon as Mrs. JV gets done with her normal morning routine I'll shower and head down to the tire shop since I'm way itchy to get those rims on.

I still have to track down another open center cap for the front--the guy I bought the wheels from could only find one but he said if the second cap turns up, he'll send it to me. Even when I do find one I'll have to have them machined open a little more since the Dynatrac front hubs are just a tick larger than the OE hubs and stock hub covers won't fit.
