spare tire cable [email protected]$$%@ up

Hey everyone my spare tire cable seems to be buggered up. When I try to lift the spare up it seems like it is stripped out, it goes up a but then drops. I can't get it to lift it up. Without the tire on, it goes up. I am just wondering if there is something I can do to fix it or if the mechanism needs to be replaced. I think I have only had the spare out maybe 5 times. Thank everyone

never took one apart, had many in my hands and replaced them because of that. All i can say is they appear to be made cheap. i would definitely do something about it because alot of the time they wont lower down, so you are stuck with a flat tire and a spare you cant lower down.

Garage
Mine had a lock on it that the previous owner didnt give me a key for so it got sawzalled off when I did my exhaust.

I didn't take a close look at it but I would have to guess that something is stripped inside if it's falling back down.

I'll sell ya one cheap if you need to replace it. I think it was used once and then removed.
