Need some help...

My 99.5 F350 4x4 is making a weird noise... best way to describe it would be a twisting rubber noise. The noise only comes around when the weather outside is cold. The noise comes from right under my feet on the drivers side. I have removed the sway bar thinking that may be it, but it still does it. It mostly does it when I am turning the steering wheel, but will make the noise when I hit a bump which makes me think it is spring related. I have put new poly bushings in the leafs but wasn't able to locate any for the schackles.
Any ideas? Do I need to replace the schakles? This noise is driving me nuts!

Thanks for the help!

will it make the noise sitting still if you just saw the wheel back and forth. I have had quite a few trucks with noise that sound simular to what you trying to describe...maybe. If so there is a rubber/plastic boot that the steering shaft goes through at the firewall. from the inside just spray some good penetrate lube or silicone spray on the steering shaft and into the boot. Works best if you leave truck running and turn the wheel to see where to spray and work the lube in. Just a guess. only other thing might be the friction pads on the end of the spring leaves. The pads may be gone, dirty or rusty.

My motto: Be nice, be polite, but have have a plan to kill everyone that you meet.
