Thump in front end

I need some help with this problem. Whenever I turn sharply, I get a "Thump, thump, thump" in the front end. It is worse when turning right than left. It sounds like it is on the drivers side. I can feel and hear it. So far I have changed the upper and lower ball joints (drivers side), the u-joint (drivers side) and the end of the drag link(not sure what to call it). I also just replaced the front hubs (it was thumping before I replaced them). Can anybody give me some ideas on what this might be?

Have you checked the track arm bar? It is the rectangular piece that runs from the frame to the axle. The bolt on the axle side can come loose and obround the hole. I ended up replacing the bolt with a larger size and sinching it down to about 400 ft pounds. No thump since.

I have not checked it, I will look at it see. Could you move it around with the truck just sitting there or did you have to jack it up?

You shouldn't be able to move it at all by hand. Torque the bolts down as tight as you can get them (Over 120 Ft #'s) and see if your thumping sound goes away.

Try replacing your sway bar bushings with a set from Energy Suspension.

I screwed up and typed in 120 ft pounds. It should be over 200 foot pounds.

Check the front end parts, they all seem OK. The guys at the shop put it up on jacks and engaged the 4 wheel drive. Made the noise really bad in 4X just by turning the wheels. Looks like there is something in the differential. Any ideas on that? Headed to the differential shop this week.

How hard is it to replace the bushings on the sway bar and springs? All of the bushings are original.

Sway bar bushings aren't bad, you'll need a ball joint press to do it.
