New tires this week, need input....

Putting new tires on the SD, Have 265/70/17 stocker Pirerlli Scorpion street radial pizza cutters... lol

moving up to a 285/70/17 All terrain Load E.

I am in michigan, with a bit of snow, and quite a bit of rain.

I love the look and all the reviews of the BFG A/T except everyone always has poor reviews about rain and wet weather with those tires... can anyone tell me their experiences?

Nitto Terra Grapplers???

What tires do you guys recommend.

Want a good look, moderate sand capabilities, good wear and street use in all weather conditions.

Towing a 12,000# boat alot too, so factor that in!

Thanks in advance!!!

I have had BFG's before, wasn't too impressed. That's why I am running Nitto Terra Grapplers now, 35x13x20. They handle great on my truck.

I had BFG AT's and I was not impressed in mud or snow. They do not clear at all and become slick quickly.

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers now and I like them much better. I have not had them in sand, but I have towed my 7000# TT to Maine and back with no issues and they seem to be wearing well. I also think they look better than the BFG's.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone know if a 285/75/17 will clear on stock suspension? I noticed that Nitto offers this tire in that size.

I probably have 10k miles on mine, maybe a little more, I don't pay too much attention to mileage. I'm not sure about the 17's, mine run's 16's. I'm running 285/75 16's on stock rims with no issues.

I don't have a close up of the tires but you can kind of get an idea here...

15k miles out of them?

I have 20k + on the ones on our diesel Excursion (E rated) and they do good in the snow. There is still plenty of tread left on them (well over 50%).

Toyo A/T's do good in the snow in their wider sizes (<305) but IMHO the skinnier ones don't clean themselves very good.

Feel free to PM with any questions about any of my mods.

dude are you kidding i have bfg at and have about 35k on a set and thats maybe half worn, I do wheelin as well and while they are not the best tire out there they sure as hell work in any normal situation you would encounter. Maybe we dont get crazy rain up here in cali but I know any rain I have encountered they never made me feel unsafe. Then again I probably drive safley for the conditions to begin with.
