DVD question

Our '04 X has the drop-down DVD player. How in the hell do we set it so that the kids can watch and listen to their movies through their headphones, and I can still listen to the radio up front? We tried it last night and I damned near left the kids standing beside the road cuz we couldn't figure it out.

Simple in my Silverado, not sure on the X. I bet there was some tense moments last night.

When your stereo is on do you have a set of headphones above the CD numbers? when that is on it means that the kids have control of the rear entertainment system that is on the center console. If not then that might be your problem. I don't have the DVD player so I don't exactly but I do know I always turn the rear system off. My kids like to kick the buttons and mess up the stereo. If it isn't on then turn the stereo off and back on. Then it should turn on. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I do know that I saw headphones on the front unit. I am guessing that it is a simple button push, something that 2 tired adults and 3 sugared up kids couldn't figure out last night.

You need to get some wireless headphones tapped into the overhead DVD player. We did that on my wife's Ex and also swapped out the front head unit for an aftermarket Alpine. You can only listen to the rear DVD through the stock radio speakers. There were no wireless headphones that came with it. You could get some wired headphones with a 1/8" mini jack but that will get old quick.
