Rear window wiper

Noticed on the rear window wiper that once the wiper gets about a 1/4 of the way up...it doesn't clean across the middle of the wiper...just the edges. When it gets about a 1/4 of the way done...the middle gets cleaned again. I have replaced blades and didn't help. Is there someway to adjust the tension on the middle of the wiper arm...or some way to have the middle part of the arm constantly touch the glass?

The way Ford fixes this is with a new (updated) wiper arm, I believe it might have a stronger spring in it but not sure. I have replaced the arms and fixed many of them but never paid much attention to the difference (they look identical though ) You might try bending the arm a little bit (pull arm away from glass and bend arm tip back toward glass.) maybe just maybe that will allow a little more tension on the blade.

Any idea how much this new updated wiper arm runs?

part # 1C7Z-17526-AA price should be about $46.00. If you have an account, or good buying power at the dealer, or they are not greedy you will spend less than that. this is the normal price. For that kinda money I would at least attempt to bend the arm and see what happens before spending 50-bucks.

Bending the arm seem to make mine worse. I ended up bending it back to get it back to what it was.

When I was at the dealer today getting my leak fixed, I asked about this. The service tech smiled, grabbed a can of wd-40 and showed me the problem. The joint where the wiper arm can lift away from the truck gets full of dust, rust and gunk. He said the arm should spring back to the window when lifted away from it. He lifted mine and it stayed. He cleaned that joint really well, lubed it up good and worked it in. Amazing...but the entire back window now gets cleaned when the wiper arm works.
