Best Gear Oil

I took my Mag-Hytec Diff covers off my 05 before I sold it. I'm going to put them on my New 09. I used Royal Purple in my 05, and when I drained them to re-install the stock diff covers, the oil looked a little milky, maybe metal? I'm 100% sure it wasn't water because it wasn't ever in water. So I would like to know what gear oil is best for my 09. I have easy access to Royal Purple and Amsoil. What are your thoughts?

Personally I use a good GL5 synthetic oil, Esso, Chevron, even Wal-mart. I would rather change the oil more often with cheaper oil, than try and get a million miles with some fancy oil. It has worked for me and I have never had a gear failure, transmission or rear axle. I use 75/85 or 80/90 never have I used a 140 oil in a set of gears that are made for 90w. Just a thought!

As long as its synthetic and the correct weight/grade, you really cant go wrong. Either Royal Purple or Amsoil will do fine.
