6.0L Excursion will it pull a 11-13k trailer?

I am looking at a toy hauler and wanted to be sure my X will pull it, and can pull it? It is a triple axle and I would be using an equalizer hitch. I imagine I would have a loaded trailer weight of 11,500-12,000lbs.

Weights for trailer listed by manufacturer are:
Unloaded vehicle weight (lbs.) 7900
Dry hitch weight (lbs.) 1000
Gross vehicle weight rating (lbs.) 13000
Cargo carrying capacity (lbs.) 5100
Measurements
Exterior length 35' -11"
Exterior height 136"

buy the way, the motor will pull anything, if you have any problem at all i would just add airbags to the back end to hold up the weight if you dont have heavy duty towing springs

I have the power to pull it with the X but stopping may be the bigger issue. Can the X legally pull this much weight, I have seen alot of DOT inspections lately checking commercial vehichles, RV's, and diesel vehichles?

AND YOU THOUGHT CARTER SUCKED

To try to answer your question.

I would think with proper trailer brakes and a good brake controller stopping the trailer shouldn't be an issue with the Excursion.

As far DOT they target commercial vehcles and drivers and personaly have never seen them stop a family of 5 towing a camper on vacation. Of course could be wrong but only commenting on what I see on the road. In my area they sit on the side of the word and pull over trucks/trailers or semi's doing commercial work. I should know been stopped by them three times now!

To be totaly honest as far as the X legaly being able to pull your trailer would have to say NO it would be not legal. The big hold up would be the tongue weight and the factory hitch. Could be wrong but if you go to rv.net they got a lot of self proclaimed weight police members who could go over all the numbers with you and figure out exactly what's legal and whats not.

IF it's not used for any type of commercial application I'd venture to say your fine but you may still be overweight. With an Excursion your under the 10K lb vehicle limit so the vehicle itself is not commercial. My dually is, the other two are not.

You should contact your states DOT and ask them about what laws you have to follow in respects to recreational use versus commercial use.
