I Drove the new 2011 F250 6.2L V8 Gas Today

Great power, nice throaty sound, very clean looking under the hood. It had the acceleration equivalence of an F150 with a 5.4L 3V. It was a F250 Crew Long Bed 4x4 XLT...

What I got to check out and play with:

Tried the LOCKER and confirmed that it DOES work in 2wd, 4x4hi, and 4x4lo..

75 mph cruising for 8 miles on a slightly rolling highway it averaged 13 mpg and at 60 mph it averaged 15. The truck had 6 when I left and 29 when I got back...

It would spin the tires from a dead stop for a few feet and that was with advanced trac on.. so I imagine it would rip harder with it off.

The advancetrac did auto disable when I put the truck in 4x4lo.

Under full acceleration the gasser is louder than my 6.4L PSD under full accel.

The gas door was the big rectangle door and there is a big rubber plug in the DEF hole.

HUGE radiator, HUGE tranny cooler, & a huge oil cooler... One battery obviously...

Steering felt so light almost too light and overly responsive..

6 speed Torqshift shifts so smooth you can't really tell when it shifts unless you are mashing it.

Manual mode works cool.

The instrument cluster is lit up even if the lights are off and you can dim or brighten the white cluster... very cool.

The productivity screen could keep you busy for hours. The fuel economy mode was equally impressive as the off-road mode.

This was an XLT with cloth seats, cd player, power folding mirrors, sync, power sliding rear window, locking axle, 4.2" productivity screen, 6.2L, tailgate step, chrome package, and 17" wheels... could be had at invoice with rebate for about $34,000 if I remember right....

Rear Axle was a 3.73.

Uh, thanks for the info, but this should be in the Gas section and not the 6.7.

Sounds like you enjoyed the truck. Add in the diesel and your talking $40-$41K for a new truck. Doesn't sound to bad.

The gas door just has a plug in the DEF? That seems a bit tacky.

No, road noise was to a minimum and the front end felt a little lighter and bouncier..
