Diy intake for 7.3

TO DO A DIY INTAKE FOR THE 7.3 LTR POWERSTROKE
you will need a 6637 air filter avaiable from napa auto parts and cheper from fleet filter you will need 7" of 4" exhaust pipe for a 94-97 and 4" of 4" exhaust pipe for a 99-03 sd
loosen hose clamp @ your factory air box then remove the air box carefull to remove the air temp sensor then lay it near the fender. then remove the air box/filter assy all the way remove the gromets from the air filter gauge/air temp sensor now toss old air box across the shop! then set your new filter/pipe set up into place and renstall both hose clamps. ta da your done go out and enjoy your new air intake
on edit if you want to put in you airfilter gauge drill an 11/16" hole into the pipe and for the air sensor it was just larger than 7/16" you may have to wollow out the hole a bit for a tight fit
tools needed
11/16 & 7/16 drill bits
10 mm socket
7/16" socket
prybar
5/16"/8mm socket/driver
parts needed
1 #6637 air filter
1 4.5-5" hose clamp
1 4-7" piece of exhaust pipe( if using other than stainless steel paint the inside so it wont rust) 4" SDR 35 sewer plastic pipe is a great pipe also
Optional Parts
a magic smoke performance pre filter cover
or one of petes filter covers

heat is not an issue because the intercooler will cool the air flow within a few degres of ambient temp and i saw a noticeable change in smoke of the line and more power also got 1 mpg better over a k&n drop in filter
