Shocks??

Im looking to upgrade my shocks....

will doing this help my truck ride smoother over roads filled with potholes?
Will it be a big difference?
The roads here in Memphis SUCK!!!!

If they will help, which ones should I get?

Any recommendations? Which ones exactly not just the brand please

My knowledge of shock absorbers is limited.

Ive been looking at Icon and Fox

Im currently running the ones that came with the Icon 4.5 kit all around

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've had really good results with Bilstein 5100's. Although your Icon shocks may have been made by Bilstein, a lot of them are.

I wouldn't recommend the pro comp mx 6 with the reservoir...i've blown 2 of them out in less than 20k....they work good when they aren't leaking like crazy...lol

If I remember correctly i think the icons are made by edelbrock. Upgrading to the 2.5 icons might help you out but they are pretty expensive.

Somebody did say Edelbrock made them, but I think Bilstein may have taken over making them for Icon. Either way, I've never heard of anybody not liking how they ride,(the Icon's that is). Maybe Spatel just got a bad set?

I have the Bilstein 5150's... and at first I loved them. Now... I think they're a little too soft.

When installing them, the bottom bushing's metal sleeve would not fit over the shock bolt, so i had to leave it out. Not sure if I'm happy with that amount of play either. Should have gone with the 7100s, that have a stiffer valving. Just feels spongy up front.

The valving reference chart suggests either 5100s or 7100s for a full size, single shock, solid axle, coil sprung vehicle. (360/80)

http://www.bilsteinus.com/ValvingQui...renceChart.pdf

So yeah.... I'd say 5100's or 7100's if you did go Bilstein.

Bilstein. I have the 5100 but like ZeroOne correctly says.. they seems to soft now. I'm planning for the 7100 in the future.

I would go with a higher end Icon shock.
