Is there a reason my truck is such a pavement princess?

I'm getting so fed up with this truck lately. It performs on par with a 2wd lowrider in anything but dry pavement. Does the 4 hi come on immediately or do you need a few revolutions first? Cuz mine sure isn't coming on right away... ughhhh so annoying.

If you are using the shift on the fly, it takes a few to lock in. I always thought people made a big deal out of nothing in prfering the manual 4wd until I got stuck in a field last week because the hubs never locked. by the time I got out and found out, it was too late. I had to be winched out of the hole. I will never rely on auto hubs again, or order one with SOF again.

if you know your going to need it lock the hubs by hand. if you got sometime you can use the auto. remeber its just Vacume that locks them and it takes time for it to build it up.

ambient/tranfercase oil temp has a HUGE effect on engagement time as well. Have you had a"hard" engagement in the past?

Lets just say not quite stock.

a few turns helps but if you are stuck it should still work, jsut ease into it and I usually go from back to forth (or visa versa) to make sure they are locked in properly.

Four high does not require the brake to be applied, it can be engaged at hiway speeds if needed.

It just makes me mad that my truck always gets stuck when it should go without a problem.

Don't do this unless you want a major repair bill. You should be UNDER 30 mph to engage 4hi. I don't engage mine unless i'm stopped though. Just safe insurance to not screw something up.
