start with gas or diesel super duty?

I will be purchasing another sd soon as i previously owned a 00 diesel but im wanting to do a fummins this time around, but I know you have to swap out the gas pedal etc. and if its gas remove the fuel pump and the brake booster etc. and im also wanting to do a manual trans with it, so i just want opinions on what you all would do since most of you all have done them and know from experience and i will probably be doing a 24v unless i get a really good deal on a 12v or cr.
Ive got a friend trying to find me a totaled complete dodge so that I know I'll have everything and then part out the rest once im done. now I just need to decide which route I'm going to go for the super duty as either way it will be something ill drive for a bit until i have everything to complete the swap unless i can find one with a bad motor cheap and do it all from the get go.

so lets hear some opinions, and a big thanks in advance

Either or, gas or diesel it really doesn't matter... you will be spending about the same amount of money one way or another... and using the gas throttle pedal and servo IS THE OLD SCHOOL WAY! We don't do that anymore... we go all electronic! Welcome to the 21st century! lol You might be best off finding a SD with a toasted 6.0... often the best bet and if you can find the 05-07 trucks... you will be much happier... they have quite a bit more sound deadening from the factory. When you get ready to tackle the project give me a holler and I'll be happy to walk you through what all is needed to complete your conversion!

The CR motors aren't bad, but the 12v yes, you will def want to add some more sound deadening. I am probably going to gut my interior this winter sometime and sound proof the whole thing even more just because I can, I want it to be deadly silent inside! Right now I have more road/tire noise than anything.

there are alot of parts that you will need that no one mentions, like the powersteering res that come from a v-10 powered superduty, and you will need the throttle pedal and cable form the same vehicle, the powersteering pump comes from a 6.0 psd as well as the starter, you can use the 7.3 alt, I highly recomend that you budget for the painless wiring harness, it will help you out alot, also if you plan on a fummins start collecting parts now and asking questions, it will cost you at around 10k if you get the motor for a good price around 4k or less and do the work yourself.

A donor truck is a great idea. I went that route on my conversion and have around $1,000 into the motor trans and dana 80. The swap can be fairly economical if you have some decent fabrication skills.
