does it matter what 12v I use.

I mean is there a difference as far as adaptor plates and such between using a 12v from a dodge truck or a 12v from a bus or larger truck that had an alison. Sorry I don't know enough about these motors and I want to find out all I can before I drop the hammer and pick up a cummins to drop into my truck. I would hate to buy a 12v or 24v that they don't make an adaptor plate for then have to spend more money to get one made.

Thanks

Jakob

If you get a 12v that had an Allison behind it, most likely a 2000-series or older non-OD, you will need to find a cummins motor plate for the appropriate transmission. Those Allisons used an older SAE housing that will not fit a passenger vehicle transmission.

I have an extra Dodge motor plate I had left after I put the Allison in.

Thanks bombdoc that is what I needed to know.

What if I get a 12v or 24v with the allison attached it is an AT545 will that fit in an F250? It seems I can get a tranny for about the same price as the adaptor plate if it fits then all I have to do is some drive shaft mods. but how will I hook up the 4x4?

Sorry fo all the questions.

No problem brother. I asked a ton of questions.

The AT545 does not have OD. It's also a real bear if you need to work on it. Performance-wise it's not ideal. It's an industrial beast.

You would have to divorce mount your t-case. That can be done, but why? Do you have ESOF?

That is what I was thinking. Seems lots of 12v and 24v are/were attached to the AT454. So might be better off finding a dodge 12v instead of a ford 12v.

Yes this truck does have the ESOF I liked the manual shifter on my 2000 I actually ordered the truck with the ESOF but they put the manual one in instead, I was glad it did not have the other.

As it is right now I am not too concerned if the 4x4 even works I would really like it too but it is not a need right now. I am in the wants and needs phase right now and the only need is, to get this lawn art running again before spring.

I hear you. If it's a 12v it should be an AT545. The ISBs in MD trucks usually have a 2000/2400 behind them. You could make one work you just have to make a bracket and a few odds and ends to have a parking brake.

Doesn't Texas still do annual vehicle inspections?
