It might be time!

I've been doing a lot of researching and thinking. And trying to convince the boss (WIFE) that i really need to do this. I'm not having any issues with my motor (probaly because all i have done to it) but i have come across a killer deal on a 2006 5.9 complete engine! All accessories and components down to the wire harness, ECU, and even the fan. I'm going to check it out this Friday and wanted to know if there is anything in particular that i should be looking for.I have been trying to research this year engine but haven't come up with to much. The only real thing I have heard is about a security key that the cr uses. The engine is still in the truck so i can hear it start up and run. Not to sure about the transmission yet. All i have to do is let the guy know i want it and he'll pull it out for me. Let me know whatcha think!

The next time something happens to that 6.0 you will be kicking yourself for not jumping on that good deal for a 5.9l. If you can get the tranny too the 5r110 is a PITA to tune and cannot hold up very long with a bad tune. Also it is easier to sell that 6.0l if it is running you can recover some expence that way. But it is easy for me to spend your money, so you will have to do what you feel is right.

I agree about the tranny, if he's got the 48re grab it if you can.

Also, the security key (called a skimm file) isn't a big deal. Just get your ECM reflashed or get a recovery file from bob @ smarty
