2005 cc fx4 v10 conversion to 12valve

hey guys,I recently picked up an 05 v10 f-350 for cheap in hopes to do the 12valve conversion.I plan on doing this by myself due to the fact that i have a low budget.so far ive had some mechanical experiance but have never done a swap before.ive done some research and figured the 12valve fits my needs cause they are the cheaper and easier swap, however im unsure what transmission setup would be best for me to use.the truck ha the 5r110 torqshift which from what ive read on here its the most difficult one to use.my question is should i just deal with it using the torqshift or sell it and go for either the 6 speed manual or a 4r100?I dont do alot of towing this is mainly so I can run bioD and better mpg.also if I do get rid of the torqshift will i keep my transfer case?what modification would I have to make to get the 4r100 or 6 speed to work?

Yes toss the 5R110 sell all the 6.8l and 5R110 parts. You can find 12v's in all kinds of vehicles but your best bet is to get one from a Dodge truck, there is a lot of small pricey parts to convert it from a med duty motor to light duty I found out the hard way, but I got a smoking deal on my motor. Do not rule out the dodge transmission a fully built 47rh/re is not a bad transmission. It will save you almost $2000 in adapter plate and PCS. Money that could be spent on building the transmission. The 47rh would be the ideal way as it is hydrolic but add a manual shift kit to the 47re and you are in business. As for transfer case you can keep the NP473 and just change out the input shaft to fit the dodge tranny's output shaft, they will bolt together but the front drive shaft of the Tcase will be lower than stock so there might be some cross member mods needed. I did not have to cut or lengthen either drive shaft but I did have to make a mounting plate to mount the tranny to the cross member.

If you go standard the dodge NV's are good but parts are getting hard to find but you will not need an adaptor plate but you will need to get the hydrolics (master/slave cylinders) worked out. The Ford 5 speed and 6 speed either will work you will not gain any MPG's from the 6 speed the extra gear is a low granny gear if you are pulling @ssholes out of elephants than thats the one you want but for MPG's it wont matter so look for the best deal.

If you are just looking for better fuel milage I have heard of a guy that put a 4bt into a 04 crewcab 4x4 SD and is getting mid 20's. He even says he can pull an 8000-10000lb trailer with it.
So an Isuzu diesel might work as well. Food for thought.

manual shifter 4x4 then you have a NP471 (IIRC) should not change things except if you have to relocate the Tcase you will have to fab up some shifter linkage should not be any thing real hard.

The manual shift kit just turns the transmission into an "Autostick" type trans. you have to pick the gear you want to be in.

The dt360 is an international motor, same folks that build the Powerstrokes until this year.

I am putting a 47re into my truck right now there really isn't any hydraulics to worry about except the cooler lines but I just mated the ones that came with the transmission to the ford lines. Just to claify- the 47rh is hydraulic but that just means the fluid pressure in the transmission changes the gears, where as, the electric (47re) uses electric solinoids to shift the gears and a computer to tell it when to shift. I do not have the computer or a TPS so manual shifting an automatic are in my future. until I kill this transmission and I replace it with a 47rh.
