12V swap

I have a 04 6L that grenaded when the egr blew and filled the block with coolant. What is invloved in swapping the 6L boat anchor for a real engine, and how does the 5 speed tranny hold up with a 12V?

04 F250 6L
F350 springs, K&N intake, BFG 33"s, straight exhaust, CCV reroute, fan shroud - stator removed, new motor with 25000 miles others coming soon

its not hard to do that swap at all.

the 5r110 best get built to last, even then, tuning may not hold it together.

So tuning is really the keyu to keeping the tranny? Fordcummins and Destroked are the only places I have found trans tunes. Are there others?

yes. the standalone controllers dont seem to be able to control the trans the way a stock computer does. i personally think it would be better to put a dodge tranny behind a 12v. but thats just me.
