emissions

Ive been steadily researching common rail swapping my 06 6.0 Hard... ive pretty well got all the info i need its just a matter of time and money now, however something else has got me a little feared.. this june emissions laws will be changing here in utah, the previous laws were just sniffer testing on the dyno, my trucks have all passed tunes no tunes no cats no egr with flying colors, however the last update they are now scanning the trucks like an obd2 test, however we have seen to get by that with just clearing all the codes before scanning it as they arent as strict as the obd2 test with all the readiness bs, my concern is if this update in june gets a little stricter how will a CR swap affect this? will it still pass? im going to be doing an 05 or 06 CR which will be the same emissions year as what came out of my truck however my truck does have the cali emissions on it?

who knows what?

wish list/coming soon-banks ic, regulated return fuel system, Tuned FICM, but not if i do a CR cummins first!

With your truck having CA emissions on it, that throws a twist in it. However, as long as you have a same year or newer motor that you are putting in your truck, you should be good. We don't have emissions out in our neck of the woods, so I'm not all too familiar with the procedure on the OBDII scanning, but if they are looking for codes, you could have someone like Wagner write you a recovery file that shuts off all of the extra codes like transmission, ground shorts, A/C, and all of the other conversion associated codes that stick in the ECM. Other than that, an Amarillo edition truck with a CR would be Sweet! Good luck!

Amarillo ford in so cal

I have an amarillo done here in Socal and am currently trying to figure out how to get it smogged . So far the ref has told me it has to have the dodge tranny to go with the motor since the ecm and the tranny were connected .

okay i just spoke to the local health department on this issue, he first said let me state its against federal and state law to do the swap as it was never certified for use in the ford chassis.. that being said however if it has been done already, he said you must bring it to us to have it certified. to pass the certification process it means you must have the same year or newer engine, and all emissions equipment of both vehicles, so it would need to retain egr and catalytic converter as the 6.0 has, does the 06 5.9 have this??

EMISSIONS

I have already been throught the first steps here in Ca. The refferee station passed me on to the people that give eo #s to people that make aftermarket parts . I am working on making the cel function and removing all codes from cummins ecm and ford pcm . Then I have to go to their facility and have it all checked out . And here you have to have all the equipment of the newer engine not the equipment from the ford also , thankfully because the 06 cr didnot use egr .

the setup im going to purchase has what you have a grafted harness, however from what i understand the painless harness has an obd connector on it, with this setup i think it may be possible to shut down any potential CEL and make it so that the ref/inspector can plug into both and see what they need to

OBD

I have the obd connector , it is very easy 2 can wires a power and ground . Bob Wagner is working on shuting off the 4 codes I cant get rid of in the cummins ecm . And Tad at Elite diesel is working on the 38 codes that I have in the ford pcm . The ford one needs to be clear so that when the ref cycles the key , the check engine light will turn on then off again .
