Clunk/Pop sound

I have a random clunk/pop kind of sound coming from the truck when i get on the brakes to slow down. It doesn't happen as soon as I touch the pedal but when I start slowing down. All my tie rods are good, track bar is good, ball joints have a little play and that was my first suspect but I was reading about a bushing in the steering column that can go bad and it causes a clunking sound and I was wondering it that could be the culprit. I just turned over 250K miles.....Anyone happen to have this issue before? Also is there anyone besides Top Gun that sells new tubular control arms for my '98? I'd like to just swap them out when I do the ball joints.

thuren makes some bad azz control arms and other suspension components... might want to go over your front brakes with a fine tooth comb, i had a vibration in the front end that wouldnt go away and turnd out that the front drivers side caliper was cracked and broken, moving around warped the crap out of the rotor, it started as a snaping sound that turned into a vibration.

I'll check out Thuren Fab....thanks.

I pulled the calipers off cause I though it sounded like pads sliding.....I'll do it again and go over it a bit closer and check for cracks in the caliper.

It could definitely be the control arm bushings. Carli makes an awesome set of control arms for the second gen Dodges. The noisy steering column usually happens when turning the wheel at lower speeds.

Well I finally got the time to get new ball joints installed and that fixed the sound. It's SO much nicer to drive this truck with the new ball joints and front end aligned.
