97 dodge 5" lift question

My neighbors kid has a 97 single cab and he just put a 5 " lift on it. He gets a little vibration only when he puts it into 4wheel drive. the kit did not come with anything to lower the transfercase to correct shaft angles, the place he bought it from said he wont need to do that. is this correct and if so what could cause his vibration? he never had it untill he lifted the truck last weekend

thanks guys

I had a 98 dodge ram 2500. It was a quad cab, shortbed and I put a Skyjacker 5" lift on it. There was a vibration in it when it was in 4wd. The front driveshaft is it too much of angle. The skyjacker had nothing to lower the trnsfer case either. To prove it he could drop the front shaft and this would tell him for sure but it sounds just like mine.

I forgot that I also had problems with the u joint closest to the transfer case on the front shaft as well. I had to replace a few of them. I didn't have it in the mud very often and never raw dogged it but I did run 14x36's on it for the looks..

Yeah I already had him remove it then drive it . It did go away after that. So what did you use to lower the T - case?

You'd have to make/find a ring to re-clock it to lower the front DS angle I would think.....or adjust the front pinion angle...

I never resolved the problem. It wasn't bad enough and the funds wasn't there so I just ran it the way it was. THe front u joint was replaced about 4 times in 8 years. I had the truck from new and had it for 10 years. It only had 83000 miles on it when I sold it. In other words it wasn't driven much. I ordered the truck special and had one ton susption under it with 410 grears from the factory and this also might have made it a little better. I am sure there is a kit that you could find to lower it. In my opion it shouldn't be that difficult. I am sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck. Also you might try to look at summit racing or national tire as they both have a lot of stuff for trucks. I bought my lift and tires and wheels through national tire. They are in West Virginia and seemed to be good people.
