2011 superduty

Are the 6.7 better than a 6.0 or 6.4?

I think it is still too early to tell what the outcome of the 6.7L will be, There is a lot more little systems in that motor, Like 2 cooling systems. The 6.0 was great out of the gate but time and poor design ate that motor up. So far the 6.7 seems to be pretty solid. You have your pros and cons as new technology gets put into these motors, but it will be 4 years or so till ford really proves reliability for a good motor. The pros and cons are there for ALL new motors any manufacturer. (My opinion only)

The general rule of thumb has always been not to buy first year model anything until the auto manufacturer has had a chance to rectify the boo boo's. After all the problems associated with the Navistar drive chain it seems that FOMOCO went to extremes in an effort to maintain market share. You better believe that heads are going to roll if the Ford orginization looses it's number one spot after a gazillion years on top. Overall this engine seems to be running like a champ and with the exception of the few comments I have read about the new audibles we are not tuned into hearing it seems they came up with a pretty solid drive chain. What concerns me a little is that there is a plutherer of new technologies and high tech electronics at work on this engine. Just take a look in the engine compartment and you get an immediate feel for the plumming and electrical nightmare. No doubt the 6.7 is not a driveway maintinance model. It will be interesting to see how this baby handles the test of time.

not to bash what you said, at least you backed up your statement..... but if everybody thought that way of not to buy first year model.... how would we ever come up with the fixes and such to make the next year better..??

6.7 has more power, more options, rides smoother, tows better, better mpg, and the list goes on.....

I have 93k on mine in 9 months, flawless performance and 50% of that milage is towing. The engine itself is a beast, even when i pull heavier trailers, say 11k range this engine does not even blink. And most importantly, i have had zero problems.

On very rare occasions the trans will shift a bit wierd, but this is very rare.

The one problem that I hear about is the primary fuel filter does not work and is letting water threw. some have said Ford is saying it could be a biofuel problem anyways the complete High Pressure fuel system has to be replaced. Some of these are very low mileage units.
The pump the lines and the injectors. It has been quoted as a $8,500 to a $12,500 fix. some say up to 6 weeks and Ford does not cover it. Ford Enthusiasts site has atrticles that covers it.
I have a couple of friends that have them and love them except the exhaust brake does not work as well as the Duramax or the Cummins. The steering feels very light when going down hill with a load, is anouther complaint. Our local mountain roads go from 11 to 18% grades.
