2013 or 2014?

I am/was planning to get a new 2013 2500 this fall.

I've seen reports that the 2014 Rams will get the coil link rear supension like the 1500. The reports say no loss in load/tow capacity but smoother riding. Who has driven the 1500 with coil and whats your impression? Also air bag suspension will be an option on the 2500 and 3500 . Again anyone have the 1500 with factory air suspension and whats your impression?

What would you do, get the 2013 or wait for the 2014?:shrug

Go 13 while you can. I have heard many complaints of the 1500 coil spring setup. I myself feel for a towing application leafs are where its at.

I am leaning for the 2013. What are the complaints that people have with the coil springs.

Sagging while towing, or with weight in the bed. I know you have bags on your current setup form guys i have talked with that have 1500s in camp grounds they all have said the gain of the coils did not out weigh the losses. I think with airbags you will loose the only good thing which would be ride quality.

I would go with the '14. Even if sagging is an issue with coils, wouldn't the bags negate that problem? I would think when empty, the bags would run such a low PSI you wouldnt notice them. To me, with my Rams, one of my biggest beefs were how harsh they rode empty. Sounds like Ram may have fixed that.

Bags make it ride rougher as that actually lift the rearend up about and 1.5. At least that was what I experienced with my 07.5. I will be able to tell you how they do on the 12 soon.

If the bags/coils combination make it smoother riding that would be plus as the wife has a bad back even after several surgeries and is always complaining about the rough ride compared to the car, and I prefer the truck over the car. If we know that the air bags were designed to handle full heavy loads like my 07 handles my loads with my firestone added bags I could live with that. Now the question is how much more $$ will the 14 cost with air bags over the 13?

I run my bags at less then 5lbs when empty even though firestone says 5 is the minimum. I carry at least 700 lbs in my bed with tools, box etc. So even with a few lbs in the bags I am not sitting any higher.

I dont even want to think about how much weight is in my tool box. I will say with a GN this weekend hauling tractors I missed my bags.. they need to migrate from the box in the garage onto the truck soon! I must also say that could be a difference between the Pac Brake Bags and the Firestone bags.

Yeah I have a few of our work rigs on bags and run them all empty at 3-5psi and it doesn't raise the rear end at all.
I think Ram will have it set so that when you're not towing, you won't notice their even there.
