Exclamation Looking for an inexpensive airflow/chip upgrade

 Is there such a thing as a good inexpensive upgrade for beginners???

I am rebuilding this '96 6.5 and it has the stock air filter on it now, and i'd like to upgrade, but not go crazy. I know the stock setup cant be optimum, is there like a "baby-step" up that wont make me have to go get a second mortgage on the truck?

I am also looking to upgrade the "chip" , would one or the other be better or both?
I have been reading up on this board on the subject of gauges, I can see that i need to put in a EGT gauge, and a boost gauge too, are those the only two you *need* or what? My Bro-in-law has a STACK of gauges in his diesel, have no idea what they all are for, but i am sure *he* knows how to read them, and i dont yet.

If you have an auto tranny, you will also need a Tranny gauge in addition to the EGT (Pyro) and boost. We have a 3 gauges kit for you with all the wiring and paint included for $300.00 to your door.

You can easily fabricate a cheap filter kit to fit your truck, I can supply the parts you need if interseted.

As far as chip go, you can always do the 18K module we sell. Its good for a 35-45 hp gain on your truck and will not break the bank.
