To oil or not?

Which is better oiled air filter or dry flow? I only get approx. 7k miles between cleanings and I'm tired of oiling mine.

I had both....... the dry filters break and tare easier............. and you get a better whistle out of the oiled ones anyways...

I personally prefer dry. I have heard too many problems with MAF sensors getting screwed up with oiled filters. The whistle from an filter should never be a deciding factor in what you use. Taking care of your engine is what should decide.

ive always run K&Ns on my trucks, i have a total of over 100K miles using them and both trucks have immaculate compressor wheels which is a good indicator of how well your filter is actually filtering the air.

I'll probably keep my S&B and deal with it, but I do like the AFE with the bag. Seems good and simple.

I've been told that some have lost boost with a dry filter.

lost boost with a dry filter? that doesnt sound right to me...

what applications are you speaking of? any diesel? or a specific brand of motor?

i would not see where something that essentially makes the pores/openings in a filter smaller (oil) being something that improves airflow... then again im no engineer or scientist, so im open to hear this one...
