oil question

which oil do you all use and how much? I am a powerstroke owner and my brothers duramax needs an oil change bad. I was going to change it for him before he heads back to his house (10 hr drive) , just wanted to see which oil is the most popular and how much

It takes 10 quarts. Either 5W-40 or 15W-40 in a synthetic. Brand is more of a personal preference.

Your Welcome. For a 5W-40 the most popular choices are (IIRC) Mobil 1 & Rotella T. Good luck.

I run Valvoline 15w-40 dino oil, no synthetics here.

Been running synthetics since the early 70's. The only supplier of 15W-40 in full synthetic is Amsoil. I like it but I get tired of paying just under 10 bucks a qt. for it. All other brands of full syn. are 5W-40. IMHO it makes no difference as long as it's CJ or CL rated. I change it every 5-6K or when the DIC says the oil life is 5% or less.
