help,allison tranny 270*

My friend has a 2006 duramax. His tranny hits temps of 270* pulling 14,000lbs up grades. The transmission light flashed at 270*. He has 74,000 miles on it. He's got the edge advantage on it, cold air intake,4" exhaust, deep tranny pan. The rest is stock. He changed both filters, amsoil synthetic fluid, new bigger cooler, its been flushed and flow tested by the dealer. truck runs fine, it don't smell hot,no shuttering , no limpmode. the only indication is the factory temp gauge and tranny dummy light that comes on. I told him to get a ford. haha. Any help would be appreciated.

Does anybody know of a gauge to check the actual temp of the tranny? Because anything you plug in to the obd2 to get it is using the same sensors. Am I correct in thinking this?

This truck is currently in the tranny shop. I will keep it
posted in case someone else comes across this issue.
