This may be a stupid question.....

I just got a 2006 2500hd seirra and was wondering something. why is it that if all of these programmers are so good at increasing economy and power safely and easily, why don't they come from the factory this way? Is there any downside to a mild tune??

Increase the power, decrease in longjevity.
emissions is another issue.

with modest power increases, emmisions are the issue
