coold air intake

I am looking to get a cold air intake. Any opinions as to which brand to get would be appreciated.

Its hard to beat the stock system on these trucks, IMHO.

If the stock is good does it make sense to just install a K & N filter for added air flow and possible fuel mileage increase.

no.
.......

The factory element is not a source of significant restriction. The KN element IS a source of significant contamination.

I don't recommend any oiled filters like K&N on turbo diesels. :deal: If you have a LBZ, then you already have a better intake than the LB7's and LLY's. If you want you can take the fan looking thingy on front of the air box out. Supposedly gives ya 0.5 mpg. You also can try PPE's modded stock airbox. You can do that yourself and save some $$$. :
