Stuck in limp mode

I have a 2002 2500hd D-Max/Ally with banks 6 gun loader, and 37's. tuner is almost always on stock or 1. Was getting off the freeway and came to a stop and went to take off and lots of rpm and very little mph, then the cel came on. codes P0700 and P0756 show. Ive tried also to shut it down and restart, after resetting the cel. This this a common issue?

Looks like your in for a rebuild, p0700 is tcm requested mil, and p0756 is 2-3 shift solenoid, no gears

I may be off base but usually when you limp the allison its time for a rebuild, check your fluid for burnt smell, brown flakes, and just remove the spin-on filter and check the magnet for metal shavings

Thats not good news. But the fluid is clean, (dip stick film). My book says P0756 is solenoid b, performance or stuck off. this that right? I was under the impression this tranny only has two solenoids, labeled as "a", and "b". i do have the ally 2000.

2500HD with LB7 will have an Allison 1000. How many miles are on the truck? A 6 Gun with SL on stock tires can eat an Allison. It can kill it pretty quickly trying to spin 37s if you rod it at all. Remember, the 5 speed isn't as stout as most people think.

Actually you have 5 solenoids; Trims A & B as well as Shifts C, D, E & F.

The fluid can be just fine. That means the filter and screen are working. Pull the spin-on and check the magnet. Make sure you have a fresh filter. You need to use a large tubing cutter and cut the filter top off and look at the trappings. Also be aware the shavings and burnt clutch material will sit at the bottom of the pan most of the time and all of the time if the truck isn't running.

Let us know what you find. When you pull the spin-on, dump the fluid through a white paper towel and see how it stains. A lot of dark brown means a lot of clutch material. When you look inside if there is a lot of brown in there you can guess what it means. If your magnet has a lot of the metal on it you will most likely see a lot of clutch material.

Either way, this only costs $17 to know for sure.

Since the P0700 has been cued, you may want to try to reset by disconnecting the batteries for a few minutes. I don't remember how many it takes. That should clear the MIL from the TCM.
