Home Heating Fuel #2

maybe its#1 not sure, wouldnt be pulling from the bottom. Ohhhh and would using a very clean 55gal <some have had chemicals to treat septic and other drums have been used for concentrated soap for pressure washers> drum be ok to store and transport, used fuel in. ....just wondering if fuel sitting in an old 275gal tank would be a problem burning in my LB7 ...if filtered with im assuming 5micron <or would another one be better?> filter be ok to use? treatment or conditioners i need to add? maybe this summer? so i dont have the gelling troubles?

If your not sure what it is, dont put it in the truck. If you know its just home heating oil, run it through a 8 micron filter/water seperator (or smaller) and treat it with diesel power service (or similar) before use. Just be careful, if it is not diesel you could get in trouble for not paying the road tax on the fuel you're burning.

That might be a problem. Diesel fuel generally only keeps for 2 years or so. If its been sitting for 7ish years, there is a good chance its no good. Try a few gallons in the truck when its tank gets low and see how it reacts. If its starts running rough, fill the truck up the rest of the way with fresh diesel and forget about the old fuel.
