Stock truck going into limp mode
A buddy of mine just bought an 01 duramax with 230,000 miles on it. The truck hasn't had a tuner on it since 100,000 miles. When he bought it the previous owner told us it was going into limp mode and he has to shut the truck off and let it reset before he can drive it again. We got the truck home and changed the fuel filter and the tranny service has 5,000 miles on it. For being stock, the truck smokes. It's got new injectors put in by the previous owner by a dealership. They thought that was the reason for the truck goin into limp mode. I checked the code it's throwing and it's a large fuel leak code. I then ran a scan tool on it to check injector pressures. Under normal driving they are fine but when you get on the truck hard the pressures are only half what they should be. I'm thinking it's the pressure return valve. Anyone have any ideas if that sounds right or if it could be something else?
