is the overflow tank pressurizing? sounds like bad headgaskets, If a GM dealer couldnt fix it three times in a row then he needs to find himself a good mechanic

he could also have warped heads or a block, if it gets taken apart again they block should be checked for trueness, and he might need new heads... it does happen sometimes where the heads crack or warp

What has been done to the truck performance wise?

If the heads are true and the block is true then he should invest in this kit from Merchant Automotive

http://www.merchant-automotive.com/l...gasketkit.aspx its brand new GM grade C gaskets and ARP headbolts, that should keep him from blowing another gasket

I just replace all 8 injectors (all the injectors came out easily so I didn't pull any sleeves) and now it appears that I'm having a coolant problem. Engine ran fine for 30 days then after sitting all night and cooling down the upper radiator hose stiff, tank under pressure and engine won't start as appears to be hydro locked. How to I determine if it's a sleeve or a head gasket issue or? 125K miles, engine is stock, 4" exhaust and air intake.

hard to say but my guess would be gaskets

Thanks for the reply. Anyway to determine if it's sleeves or Head gasket without pulling the Heads?

These engines are NOT sleeved, they bores are cast into the block, so if you have a coolant blowing over the Degas bottle its either head gaskets or worst case scenario cracked heads, the best way to be 100% sure is to try to pressure test the cylinders individually, by rolling the engine over to TDC on the cylinder, then pressurize the cylinder through the glowplug hole, and by removing the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing and using a liquid column (a long clear plastic tube placed in a U shape and filled with water and marked where the level is) will tell you if air is escaping your cylinders for certain

Coolant leak

Aaron
Thanks for the response. My fault for not being clear with my question, what I meant by sleeves were the Injector Sleeves, not a cylinder sleeve. Tomorrow I'm going to remove all the glow plugs and do a cylinder by cylinder compression test, comparing the values to see if one or more are low compared to the others but I don't believe that the test will tell me if it's a head gasket or injector sleeve leak. I'm I correct? Is the liquid column more accurate than a pressure gauge? Still sounds to me that I'm headed for removing the heads, darn!

Thanks for the help
Tom
