Aluminum\ Oil pan cover

question? On the bottom of the motor; the aluminum part of the oil pan has a plastic cover on it. Kinda weird looking like it was melted on the pan. It broke off and fell in the driveway. What was its purpose and do I need it? It doesn't have any mounting points looks like it was just melted on it

The oil pan is two-piece. If you lost a part of that, then I'd think you'd have a huge puddle accompanying any breakage.

Please post a pic of the item, and where on the motor you're talking about.

I will get picts tonight. It is not the actual oil pan but like a cover that was on the top piece near the front of the motor. It is plastic and covered the alluminum part of the oil pan like a protection cover or sound deadner.

Isn't there a plastic cover that goes over a wire harness in that area?
