Question new here & trying to buy a DMAX

hello to all. well this is my first time here but have been reading for months now. any ways I'm trying to buy my first diesel truck and I'm looking at an 04 chevy silverado ext cab, 4x4, leather power eveything 6.6 diesel 133 k miles though. dealer wants $17,888. does this sound like a deal?

anyways I don't know much about diesels , but I want one, because they are 3/4 ton get more mpg/hp/torque than a gas v8.

what is the horsepower and torque rating on 04 6.6 duramax?

are these equipped with allison transmissions? 4 or 5 speed?

thanks before hand for any input

Hi, I got an 03 with 91k miles im selling just like that one, except cloth interior for 19,499. that sounds like a good deal, ask about injector issues and electrical issues as those are the two main flaws I have seen and heard. If that truck doesnt work out hit me up cuz mine is for sale too... lol
I think the stats are listed at 360 hp and 660 ft lbs of torque

Yeah that sounds like a pretty good deal to me! I wouldn't worry about 133k....it's a diesel!! But yeah injectors are really the only thing, but the good news is they are covered by GM for 200k.....Find out weather it is a lb7 or an lly motor because in early 04' it was lb7 and in late 04' they went to lly. If it's an lb7 the stock numbers are 300hp 565 torque. hope this helps man!

According to Kelley Blue Book, that truck in Good Condition:

Trade In -- $16,910
Private party -- $20,510
Suggested Retail -- $26,015

Without seeing the truck, I'd still say its a good deal. Ask the dealer to run the VIN record for the truck, esp the repair history. If its not at a GM dealer, get the VIN, go to your favorite dealer and ask them to run it for you.

Allison is a 5 speed in an 04 truck.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the '04's are covered under the 7 year/200k injector warranty. I do know the '01-'03's are covered under the 7/200k warranty. Good luck on your purchase!

They just became covered not too long ago. The letter just came out. Tom will sticky it when he finds it I bet.
