Diesel in my crankcase

I joined because my speedo was screwing up and was bragging about how flawless my truck has always been, previously, thats when I started getting a lower than normal oil pressure. I assumed that it was screwing up like the speedo, so I went outside yesterday to a puddle of oil under it. First thing I did was go get my laptop and pull up TDG and do a search for oil leaks. Read a few threads so I had a good idea of what I was dealing with.
Pulled the dipstick and it was very thin, not the normal consistency of motor oil. Couldn't really smell the diesel so after check the oil about 6 or 7 times and wiping it on a rag i could smell the diesel on the rag. Leaving it parked until I can take it in sometime next week. Thanks to everyone for posting their problems which helped me realize that I should have caught this when I noticed the lower oil pressure about two or three weeks ago. Does anyone know if driving it if I might have damaged the main bearings or the turbo. I certainly hope I didn't screw up a really good truck. When I last drove it had great power and was still firing right up. Just wondering.
BTW my truck is a 2003 CC Dually 4X4 with 120,000 miles with a Hypertech programmer.
Will remove the programmer when I get home today.

Thinning out the oil can always lead to bearing failure. There is no way to really tell until an oil sample is sent out. But as long as you had decent oil pressure, and you werent floggin it too hard it should be ok. Get it in for the injectors and fresh oil, then see how it sounds and performs. That should tell you everything. Dont know what kind of oil you are running, but you might want to think about switching to synthetic after this to give that extra measure of protection. Its worth every penny in my book.

I got a service bulletin in the mail a few months back saying something about Chevy knowing about this. I don't remember how many miles they would warranty it up to. It would be worth checking into. It said something about having fuel in your oil. Ill look for the paper then put another post to let you know what I find.

I believe that the letter that was sent out added the 04's to the list of trucks covered by the 7yr/200K extended warrenty. Diesel in the oil is not the only symptom of failed injectors. So watch for all of the signs not just fuel in oil!

Called the dealership and they told me "no problem, Chevrolet has a recall on those injectors." Won't cost me anything. I changed my oil and then drove it over there and they said everything will be covered. I didn't notice any lack of power or anything. Hope it goes as well as they told me it would. Will let ya'll know if they try anything stoopid!

Glad to hear that they are taking care of you. After running the truck for a few thousand, I would change the oil again with your brand of choice to give it that extra sense of protection. After all you were driving around for almost a week with thinned out oil. My personal preferance is a Group IV oil, Mobil Delvac 1 or Amsoil. If you have questions about synthetic, give me a PM and I will go into depth more there.

I have a feeling that when you get your truck back you wil notice a little more power and better economy also. See if they will change your glow plugs while they are in there. That way you dont have to pay for them to tear it down next time, I asked them to do it on mine, and they only charged me the parts. But yours might be covered by the extended warrenty for that also.
