Newb question about LB7 Vs. LLY

I have a PS6.0, so I am here on behalf of a friend that owns a 2004 duramax. He is having white smoke at idle and light throttle issue and asked me to look at it. I noted here this seems to be a common issue with LB7 injectors, but I noticed in 2004 the duramax went to the LLY engine.

How can I ID the engine he has?
Will GM perform the injector warranty work even though a tuner was once installed?

Thanks,
Rick

Look at the 8th digit in the VIN. 1=LB7, 2=LLY

As for the tuner, its best to return the vehicle to stock before dealer visits.
