Limp mode issues

I have a 01 Duramax, It will throw a PO093 trouble code and go to limp mode. I have had a new fuel pressure regulator put on it and the injectors have been done under warranty before I got the truck.

It will throw the code very randomly, loaded or unloaded. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? My guess is maybe the throttle position sensor?

The truck runs way to good to be something major, I think. Also the truck has a 4 inch exhaust and a K&N filter, but has never had a programmer of any kind.

Any help you guys can provide would be great,

Thanks

I just found out from the dealer that the injection pump was replaced at 900 miles and the injectors at 91,403 on 4-30-07 and the truck only has 123,000 on it now.

I think what he has is a P1093 code stored.

Basically what is happening is that the fuel system cannot deliver the pressure that it is needing. When the ECM sees that the actual rail pressure is lower then the desired rail pressure, it sets this code.

First and foremost, change your fuel filter. Check fuel quality at that time, no water in it etc.
Beyond that, its a bit more difficult to diagnose for the DIY guy. A scanner will be needed to go much further. Likely cause would be an injector with high return rates.

The fuel filter has been changed twice sense it started doing this, The last time was less than 1000 miles ago when I had the FPR changed. I have access to a scanner, what should I look for? My truck is out of warranty but my injectors were replaced 31,597 miles age... would they still be covered under the warranty?

Using a bi-directional scanner, command rail pressure to 160MPA and see if the actual rail pressure follows it. If it does not, start with a return flow test on the injectors. This will find the culprit. Not a test that can be done with a scan tool unfortunatly.

As for warranty, nope. Your out with an 01
