damn oil leak

just bought an 02 2500hd and drove it 5hrs home...in the dark, this morning found oil all over the under side of truck!!! also found what looks like jb weld all over the small cover in front of oil pan. HELP!!!

I would call the seller and ask WTF!! Sounds like they had a fan shell and clip the pan. JB Weld never works there. Did it break the small wiring loom bracket or crack the pan? Is the stone guard still on the front? What do you know about the history of the truck?

did just that! dude gonna fix it 100percent, then deliver it back to my house. i'm takin it back tomorrow on a trailer and bringin my son back a car to drive in the mean time for the free! the pan in front of the oil pan is covered in some kind of epoxy and it had oil pouring out from where the tranny mates to the engine also. all gonna be fixed at his cost. good guy and he's actually takin good care of us. second truck from him. bought my 05 lly 3500 dually from him first and no problems. thanx.

I would not be concerned about the epoxy looking stuff on the pan. Cant say for sure without seeing it, but keep in mind that there is a layer of sound deadening on the alum portion of the pan. It can be mistaken for a patched up pan, but its actually OEM as a sound deadener.

Still cant help much with the oil leak, but sounds like its getting taken care off.
