so many questions

im pretty new to the lb7 and was reading somewhere that a limited number came with egr, how do you know if you have one of these or a non egr? im also gonna do a complete fluid swap this weekend and was wondering if there is any particular brands i should use. and i bought the truck with a magnaflow(i think) down pipe back exhaust, but i want a full turbo back is there any place i can get just the down pipe that would mate to it, and the airraid intake that came on it are these any good? how do they flow compared to others like the afe or just a stock box

The California emissions package LB7 does have an EGR and a Catalytic converter. If you look at the top of engine above the fuel filter housing there is a tube bolted to the intake manifold with an exhaust pipe attached. Thats the EGR valve.

For fluids brand is really a matter of preference but make sure everything you buy is synthetic. I have had great luck with Royal Purple and Mobil 1 in mine. To service the front differential you need to take the skid plate off which is a PITA. The engine oil, rear axle, transfer case, and transmission are a breaze to service. You DO NOT need to change the filter inside the Allison transmission, just change the external filter and clean off the ring magnet. If you dont know the last time the fuel filter was changed, change that too. These trucks are sensitive to how dirty the filter is.

The airraid system is a good kit and I would leave it on there. As for the exhaust, hopefully someone else can chime in to help you out.

try silverline or diamond eye for a downpipe for your exhaust

You can 'flush' the oils, but I wouldnt bother. The axles came with synthetics from the factory, and IIRC the transmission did as well. The transfer case and engine are simple swaps and will love you for the switch.

For filters, you cant go wrong with ACDelco. They are cheap (except for the fuel filter) and found everywhere. I personally run K&N, Wix (napa gold), and Racor on my trucks. Don (bushpilot) showed me this site and I am thankful he did, everything you need filterwise can be found here; www.dieselfiltersonline.com/

A lly or lbz blocker plate may work, I don't know for sure. Efi live/PPE can turn off the egr, so you don't need to try remove it, I think there is a how to block and remove the egr here somewhere on this site but I can't remember where it is.

Peanut, if your not planning on running an tuner, I would just leave the EGR alone.

The CA emmisions LB7 motors are very different. The heads, turbo, downpipe, intake setup and more are different. Leave it alone is good advice, you can block it and disable codes, but dont know of any tuner capable of shutting it down. EFI can be used to do it.

As for fluids, stick with good quality stuff, something that is easy to get ahold of for you would be best. That way you can find more to top off etc.

Give the truck a good front to back once over and note the mileage and date when you service it so you can get on a good schedule to help it last.
