Transmission build ?'s

I am geting ready to start piecing together the parts for my transmisson bulid. I know there is alot of debate between kits. I plan on being in the 550 and maybe upto 600 hp range. Probally colser to 550. I am planning on the suncoast stage 4 kit, but with ats torque converter, flywheel and deeper trans pan. Any thoughts, imput or comments? Stuff i should look out for?
Thanks
Jamie

why not go with suncoast converter? just as good as ATS, you dont really need the 5 disc converter for 550hp

Salem Oregon.
550 is a very easily reached plan.. Some day it will be more, and I would like to only have to do it once.

im sure a mod can move it if you like

I was just curious as to why you wouldnt trust the suncoast converters to hold up to 700-800hp but you trust everything else??

Simple triple disc converter is all you really need (well, along with the clutches and transgo, etc...).

I do not know any diesel shops in Oregon right off.. Closest Id trust would be Adrenaline Truck Performance in Idaho or MikeL in SoCal.

I have heard that the ats ones were alot stronger. I myself have no transmission knowledge once oh ever.. I only rely on what i have read.. But reading an article can make an outhouse sound pretty amazing too. I have heard this several times over the last few years though. Not sure of the reasoning?

well it would stand to reason that Suncoasts Converters are pretty darn good considering that is what they originally started specializing in, and if you are considering suncoasts internals for your transmission why not get the entire stage 4 kit from them? or better yet just order a stage V transmission?

I must say that i kind of have a bias towards ATS sort of like what other guys have towards Banks products, Just because THEY say they are the best does that really make it so? and most people tend to think they are because they dont stop to think about it subjectively, thats why places like this forum are here, to let you find out what other people know, and see what really is the best for your truck, not just what you read in a magazine ad (Im not saying thats what you based your decision on)
