my guess is it will be around $1500 more, but id pay that for 520 torque in a 1/2 ton If it's confirmed that the truck will get 25-30 MPG i will be the first guy in-line to get one.

They put that motor in a few vans also; I saw a old M/T mag with one.

Garage
I will say the option will be a $3000-$4500 upgrade over the gasser (dpf exhaust, SCR, plus cost of diesel engine and whatever trans upgrades...). If fuel mileage isnt atleast in the 25mpg it wont be worth it for me. BTW the Ford diesel is rumored to be making more power then the duramax ( I cant say anymore....I work with ford).

Oh sure....put the lure out in the water like that....

I'd imagine they'll treat these little diesels like their big brothers....it'll be another HP war. This is good!

Best the option is $5000 over a gasser

you really think it will be that much? i sure hope not. My first guess of 1500 might be a little low but im hoping the most expensive it gets is only 2-3 thousand more.

Well, the Dmax/Alli combo is ~$7000 for the HDs, so it stands to reason GM will charge a premium price...

i think a 6 cyl duramax is much smarter than an 8 cylinder for the suburban and tahoe. rarely does anyone dont need all that power in a family suv. honestly, how often do socker moms driving around town need 310+hp and 520 lbs/ft of torque? to move their vehicles? a four cyl would be slow as a snail but would get great mileage. i would buy it. if i wanted something fast i would get a vette not a burb.
