Question 96 4L80E in a 94 6.5?

Hey all, new here and i need some info on a tranny swap. I have a 1994 1 ton 6.5 with a 4L80E of course. Anyhow tranny is pretty well gone. Got to the point of shifting very hard and there is quite a bit of clutch material in the pan. So its pretty safe to say its dead.

A friend of mine had a 1996 1 tone 6.5 with a 4L80E also 170,000 miles. His engine went out due to a oil cooler line blowing and i bought the truck for parts. I was wanting to swap transmission out of this 96 into my 94 but i am being told by a few mechanics that the 96 trans will not work in a 94 for 2 reasons.

#1 the wiring is different and can not be altered to work( this i dont believe )

#2 the safety neutral switch or the black box on the side of the tranny can not be used with the electronics in a 1994 truck. ( this kinda goes with #1)

Any info on this? Feel like i am being told something thats not quite rite.

1997 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4, 5.9 Mechanical Cummins, P pump with a bit of work, 5 speed trans, Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch, 33/12.50-16.50 BFG KO All terrains, 320,000 miles and still going strong!

1994 Chevy 1 Ton 4x4 SRW, 6.5 Turbo, 4L80E, 3 inch exhaust. 415,000 miles and broken

Thats a big job I havent attempted this with anything with an electronic transmission along with any mechanical swaps and mods, You may have to transfer the transmision computer and wiring from donor to recipient. You might have the ECM reflashed as the ECM security might not recognize the new transmission.
