Transmission Whine

I have a 2005 duramax 2500 crew with about 102,000 miles there is a whine that sounds like the tranny, could it need to be rebuilt or is this ok. I can hear the whine at 55 mph to 70 mph. It also gets better when fully warmed up, but it doesn't go away. If it does need a rebuild what would it cost?
