PPE Stage 4 Transmission

I've been looking into the PPE Stage 4, and I like the looks of it personally, it includes Triple Clutch Converter, valve body kit, and a replacement of clutches and steels with High-Friction C1, C2, C3, and C4 clutches with Kolene steels, for 2,999...I know Suncoast is a good name, but their Stage 5 is like 4grand plus converter...

I have a buddy that has this in his drag truck, and he says he likes it, and PPE Claims 850hp, which seems pretty good...I dont plan on ever building it that high...just some hott EFi Live and a CP3 is all im planning on doing for a long time...After sleeves, Im sure I'll hook it once or twice in a Work Stock class...

Any of you guys have this kit or know who does?

Its just a kit that you would need to have installed. The SC V is a fully built trans that you bolt in, thats why there is a price difference. The HP holding capability is going to depend on who builds it.

I'd check out the SC stuff, when buying the kits they are about the same price and they have come out with a new clutch design for the c3's and c4's. If you get the kit from the right person you can get it without the SC converter and get a Precision Industries converter (i think they are better and they are a little cheaper too. (not to be confused with a Precision of New Hampton Converter). IIRC you can get a SC IV kit for about 2,700.

thanks! I did not know that, that makes sense then that its a wee bit more...Im thinking though just to get the kit and have it installed...I just have to find someone to do it...

google Inglewood Transmissions. Call them (its Mike L.) he'll be able to recommend who to have build your trans. I know of a good shop here in NC but its 11 hours from you. I think there are a couple that are closer.

Nate I went through the same questions. I ended up with a PPE Stage 4 at a great price. I had to go with PI on the converter since it's going in Chum; however, PI was also recommended for my other PPE Stage 4 for Slick.

Remember PPE Rates their kit at the crank so a PPE 4 is relatively equivalent to a Suncoast 3.

I also talked to Mike L about it and I should be good running the levels Chum will push with compounds. Now if I can find my last couple of Allison parts!!

yea, i saw that the stage 5 is rated at 1200 to the crank nd when that transfers to the wheels it'll be more then enough then i plan to try to put down, so for a couple hundred I might as well do that, and buy billet shafts, I just wanna have everything planned out and make up my mind before I do it and then Im not happy with myself ...If I could break 600 on fuel Id be pretty damn happy...

I wouldn't worry about the billet shafts. The stock peices are pretty stout. Plus if you do break a stock shaft it won't hurt anything else in the trans like the dodge trannies do. If it breaks I'd up grade it at that point. I still have the stock shafts in mine and have been over 500 rwhp for a while doing second gear launches. Engine is soon to have way more then that and I'm gunna wait until one breaks to see when they do give out for me.
