Post that in General GM Truck. https://www.thedieselgarage.com/forum...splay.php?f=48

It's not that bad. Probably take an hour if you've never done it before.

Sorry to hear that. What happened with the motor?

long story but in essence i will have to do the head gaskets from the sound of it. i first have to change egr cooler to ensure that is not the problem but i am not convinced it is. the truck overpressurizes the cooling system. the place i took it to is telling me 7000 to rebuild it so i guess i will do it. thanks for the interest though. while i do that i will also do the steering it should be easier with most of the motor out of the way.

Hmm, how many miles on the motor? Any power adders? Checking the EGR cooler should be easy. If you plan to take it down anyway.

I assume you did the quick checks for head gaskets. Let it cool for a while after it has been though a heat cycle. Then squeeze the radiator hoses. They should flush back. Have you checked to verify the oil hasn't turned into milk?

ya really weird about the pressure on the hoses,I pulled my trailer to the lake let the truck sit for a couple of days, removed the rad cap and still had alot of pressure behind it.kind of odd. no fluid in the oil and the rad hoses are not squeezeable from the presure in them.i cannot understand how it can get so overpressured but never flow back the opposite way when turned off.it seems to me if a gasket allows gases out it should also let it in or fluid.even the egr cooler if leaking shouldn't it allow pressure to flow out? i got her back from the shop today so i have my fingers crossed its the egr cooler. anyhow i'll let you know how it works out, thanks for the interest

Yeah, let us know. That's odd with low miles on an LLY.
