Question HOW MANY OF THESE WHERE MADE ?

Hi all,
I just recently bought a 1995 silverado 1500 1/2 ton 8' bed but the thing
is it has a 6.5 turbo diesel I have never seen one but I hear that there

They did come factory like that. They weren't as common as in the 2500 and 3500 models, but they did infact but 80's model 6.2 and 90's model 6.5 in 1500 - 3500 series trucks, suburbans, tahoes, etc. In a nutshell, pretty much anything with a half ton chassis or bigger, the 6.5 was just as much an engine option as the 5.7 350 gas or 7.4 454 gas.

the 1/2 ton gm 6.5s have a crushed down pipe to make the Exhaust hotter for emission reasons.

I have a friend who has a '97 1/2 ton 6.5, he put a turbo back exhaust of it from Heath Diesel, and likes it.

Here is some info I got pretty cool!

The 6.5 was somewhat common from 1992-up in 3/4 ton trucks, most common in 1 ton trucks...but in 1/2 ton, is pretty rare. They definitely made them but are rarely seen. I don't have any production figures on them, but here's the blurb from Wikipedia on it:

There are several GM 6.5 liter diesel engine production options. The Turbocharged L56, (VIN "S") was used in most 1/2 ton (1500) and light duty 3/4 ton (2500) trucks. One percent of the 1/2 ton (1500) contained an naturally aspirated version of the 6.5. Heavy duty 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks used the Turbocharged L65 (VIN "F") engine.
