is it worth it

Kicking around the idea of taking the father in laws 94 3500 2wd and converting it to a 4wd. but curious if it's worth it or where the best place is to get all the parts. I have access to a dana 60 ford to put in it.

Converting a 2wd is more work than converting a 4x4 truck, you need a 4wd trans and transfercase and you need to clock the tranfercase down if you use a gm transfercase. You need you need both drive shafts, cause the 2wd uses a different rear drive shaft than a 4wd and of coarse there is no front one. There is something about the front crossmember too but I can't remember what it is.

You would need a ford transfercase cause. the dodge has the front drive shaft on the right hand side not the left.

It could work, but it would take time to get the engine, transmission, transfercase, front axel mounted and then get the truck running. but if you got the time and money go for it.

well, I am deciding between this and a 92-97 f350 cummins conversion. I want a non ca smog diesel and crew cab also want power windows and locks. so not a lot to work with and the wife doesn't want anything super old. I was thinking late 60's suburban but she said no.

That's another option, there have been plenty of Fummins done. If had the time and money I would love to swap a cummins in to a 4X4 '96-'00 3500 Chev/GM or a Duramax swap in to the same truck.

well the wife's dad has a 94 I think I can get it for a decent price or nothing it all depends on the day really. I want reliable mechanical injection this is why i am going 12v. I figure a 600+hp daily driver would do the trick.
